How to use the bench (mouse, touch, or keyboard)
- Time: Play (Space) replays history; ×1 is half a million years per second, ×0.1 to ×5. → (or Step) moves 0.1 million years while paused; Shift + → jumps to the next event (a reversal, an earthquake, an eruption).
- Ship: tap the seafloor (or use the slider) to move the research ship; D drills a core where it is.
- Stripes: point at (or tap) a stripe, a core, the globe, the timeline or a layer to see what it is. In Lab 2, tapping a stripe selects it and its twin.
- Zoom: drag the zoom slider, scroll over the picture, pinch on a touch screen, or press Z / X.
- Keys: Space play / pause · → step · D drill · R reset · Z / X zoom · H help.
