Accessibility Statement
1. Our goal
The Lab Games should work for every student, including students who use a keyboard instead of a mouse, a screen reader, screen magnification, or high-contrast or dark settings. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. We make no claim of certification.
2. What the site does
- Text uses Atkinson Hyperlegible, a typeface designed for readers with low vision.
- The site pages have a light and a dark theme that follows your device's setting.
- Site pages start with a “Skip to main content” link, and the site menus and account pages work with a keyboard.
- Pages use headings, labels and landmarks so screen readers can find their way around.
- Every sim, lab and game works without an account, so no one has to get through a sign-in to use them.
3. Known limits
Many simulations and games are built on interactive drawings (for example dragging particles, aiming, or moving sliders on a diagram). Some of these are hard or impossible to use with only a keyboard or a screen reader, and some timed games may be too fast for some students. We are working through the sims one at a time. If a student can't use a particular activity, tell us which one and we will help find another way to do it.
4. Report a barrier
If something on the site is hard to use, email thelabgamesorg@gmail.com. Tell us the page or activity, what you were trying to do, and the device, browser and any assistive technology you use. We will reply within 2 weeks.
