How to play

Each round you both get the same question; answer right on your turn and you make one chess move. Keep answering right and you keep moving while your opponent is skipped, but answer wrong while they're right and you are skipped.

  • King one square any way. If your king is checkmated, you lose.
  • Queen any distance in a straight line or diagonal.
  • Rook any distance up, down, left or right.
  • Bishop any distance diagonally.
  • Knight an L: two squares one way, then one to the side. Jumps over pieces.
  • Pawn one square forward (two on its first move); captures one square diagonally forward.

In check, you can't be skipped: answer wrong while your opponent answers right and you lose. No checkmate after 40 questions or 12 minutes? More pieces left (Q9 R5 B3 N3 P1) wins. Keys: 1–4 for choices, T/F for true/false, type + Enter for fill-in.
