Tic-tac-toe where every move is earned. Everyone gets the same question; answer right to place a mark, or dissolve one of theirs. Three in a row wins.

How to play

• Everyone sees the same question at the same time. Answer right to earn a move; the fastest right answer moves first.
• A move: place your mark on an empty dish, or spend one of your side's 2 removal tokens to dissolve one of their marks. That dish is scorched (nobody can place there) for the rest of the round and all of the next.
• X is a pair of crossed test tubes; O is a ring colony. Three in a row wins at once.
• The very first move of a match may not take the center.
• 9 rounds. No line by then, or the board fills? Sudden death: first right answer wins.
• Keys: 1–4 or T/F to answer, type + Enter for fill-in. Your move: 1–9 places, R then 1–9 removes.
• No answer for 3 rounds in a row, or leaving, forfeits the match.
